Matt Thomas
President Elect
Matthew (Matt) Thomas is a Transportation Engineer at WSDOT specializing in Intelligent Transportation Systems. As the lead ITS engineer for the Northwest Region, Matt leads reviews of ITS plans for various WSDOT mega-projects and helps maintain WSDOT's expansive ITS infrastructure, including but not limited to ramp meters, incident detection cameras, variable message signs, and active traffic management gantries.
Following graduation from Seattle University, Matt has served in a number of roles with the YMF including Golf Tournament Chair, Networking Chair, Sports and Recreation Chair, and on the Executive Board as the YMF Treasurer. Matt currently serves as the President Elect and is looking forward to serving his presidential term in 2026-2027.
In his free time, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter. Matt also relishes time outdoors and internationally, with favorite trips including those to Japan, Slovenia, Yosemite, and Utah's Mighty Five National Parks.
